Sept 10 - Bibury and York

Wednesday morning we decide to make a diversion stop at Bibury - A village once described by William Morris as the "most beautiful village in England". Dating as far back as The Doomsday Book ( 1086), it was originally built as a Wool Store in the 14th Century and converted to weavers cottages in the 17th century. Now listed as the "most photographed row of cottages in the country".

We say goodbye to the Artists Residence in Witney and make our way to Bibury, 30 minutes away.

Arlington Row - Bibury, Gloucester

We arrive in York at 3pm and get settled into our accommodation in the center of town at the Coal Shed B&B. On the recommendation of our host, we take a quick walk over the the York Minster Cathedral to enjoy the Evensong service with the most angelic choir and organ music. We end our day with a delicious dinner at Little Italy.

The view from our room reminds us of the backstreets of Coronation Street

Looking forward to exploring the ancient city on foot tomorrow.

  1. Looks like it was an amazing day. Beautiful architecture and I can imagine the acoustics in the cathedral and voices of the choir. Nice to see the stone shingled roof as well as the stone brick fence. Love it all .. Have fun on foot exploring tomorrow.
