We decide to make Saturday our day in Liverpool, as we have booked a Beatles Magical Mystery Tour that will take us to key "Beatle" sites around the city - and if it rains we will be relatively dry.
To avoid driving and parking in Liverpool we take the very efficient Mersey Rail train from Chester to James Stn to land us very near where we need to be for the tour.
We start our day at Core cafe for breakfast...we have some time to kill as the Liverpool museum does not open until 10am and our Beatles bus tour starts at 4:30pm.
MerseyRail transport is clean and efficient
Of course it ends up raining all day in Liverpool
Liverpool Museum
Display of "treasures" found from Saxon times mostly by Detectorists
Roll up for the Mystery Tour
Took the best shots possible thru rain soaked bus windows
Frequent stops around the Liverpool to experience the Beatles neighborhoods
The tour ends at the Cavern Club
It truly is a cavern - 4 floors below street level
It looks and feels like any pic or video you have seen of the Beatles playing here
The Beatles tour is worth the trip all by itself Magical Mystery Tour !! and the bus looking more like a yellow submarine .. and the Cavern Pub where it all started...
ReplyDeleteYou truly got the feeling you were walking in their footsteps and feeling the sea air as you went from each of their houses and their travels to school by bus...The lyrics to Penny Lane were inspired by one busy intersection that Paul passed thru on the bus every day going to school....The fireman rushes in, the barber shaves another customer, pretty nurses selling poppies from a tray, the banker never wears a Mac in the pouring rain.....amazing
