Our final day of travel before meeting up with Katrina and Alex at their home in Batheaston, we pack up our stuff, ready to leave The Summer House accommodation in Helselor, but not before picking a bag of tree ripened Damson Plums and Quinces. Our host Mark invited us to harvest as many as we liked, so we did so and planned to offer them to K&A for some tasty recipe.
We start with breakfast at Chapter 23 cafe and enjoy flat whites and avocado toast, then a quick tour of the village of Alcester before we are back on the road.
On our way we will stop in Stratford, to fulfill a promise to our friend Arlene, a morning coffee pal from The Main in Port Hope, that we would toast her with a drink at the famous "Dirty Duck" pub in Stratford, that is located down the street from the Royal Shakespeare Company headquarter on the banks of the Avon.
We arrive an hour early for our lunch reservation at the pub, so we decide to take a tour of Shakespeare's family home in Stratford. It is quite informative and quite enjoy the tour of the gardens and the nearby buildings.
We enjoy a lovely pub lunch and grab selfies to send off to Arlene.
Love the day you had .. and fulfilling a friends request from Port Hope to visit the Dirty Duck.. and to start the day with some fresh pickings ! Autumn harvest in the northern hemisphere .. apples here and apples there. and so much more... Next up .. time with family and more adventures.. let's see where you go next !! CARRY IT ON !!
ReplyDeleteThe Summer House in Heselor was such a unique find that Fran arranged. The hosts land holdings and orchards just went on and on....and such an emotional reunion with Katrina and Alex - with many more adventures to come....Currently in Cambridge - a 4 hr drive from their home in Batheaston...tomorrow, to Norfolk and 3 days in a cottage on the east coast of UK - then on to Suffolk on the south coast and then back to Batheaston, where they will continue to work from home, while Fran and I do some day trips to villages and sights we have come to know so well....Cheers
