Sept 27 - Holt, Cley, Blakeney, Stiffkey

We start our day preparing breakfast at our B&B - avocado and roast tomatoes on sourdough toast and yoghurt, granola, and fruit.

Then a quick walk down the high street to Cross Street Union cafe for flat whites before heading to the coast for seaside walks and quaint villages.

A 10 minute drive out of Holt brings us to Cley Next to Sea. A lovely and ancient fishing village strewn with Flint stone houses and dunes with the estuary flowing in from the sea. Over the dunes to the ocean side and you find Shingle beaches - composed of billions of rounded colored stones about an inch in diameter and the North Sea crashed on the shore.

A common site in the UK, especially on the beaches - The Detectorist with his trusty metal detector looking for treasure

5 Minutes down the road and we stop at Blakeney, another seaside village - but with Posh homes and lots of tourists. We stop by Two Magpies Bakery Cafe for a lunch of Moroccan Salad Bowl and Bubbles and Squeak.

Another short drive to the hamlet of StiffKey for a final coffee at the StiffKey stores and cafe....and admire the local architecture and greenery

  1. and you find another cat coming to greet you !! love the windmill in the background too ( a Dutch memory !! ) Cley Windmil (Norfolk) .. Someone work with a medal detector .. you never know what you might find on the beach / shore .... and not a sandy beach but a stone beach.. how cool is that to see people just sitting and taking it all in .. Beautiful clouds too.. Amazing how those same beach stones are incorporated into the buildings.. I beg to ask .. I wonder how old the sourdough culture is at the two bagpies bakery.. gets better with each new generation !!

And Bruce and Fran in a little cabin and Bruce holding two brown paper bags !! I am wondering what they are hiding from us !! They are up to something.

I am guessing we will have to wait until tomorrow for some kind of clue !! CARRY IT ON !!
